is the student-led publication for the arts at The Potomac School in McLean, VA. At Phoebus, we write, we paint, we photograph, we draw, we sing, we build. At Phoebus, we create.

“Color only forms in the dark.”

“Love is found in an unfinished phrase.”

“Whirl through the electric storm that sizzles in your brain; raise both arms to the mangled sky; if lightning strikes, strike back. Shock yourself.”

“We found some kind of belonging, there in the interlude.”

“Our memory will linger in the city like cigarette smoke.”

“You were the one who burned too bright, a once-in-a-lifetime spectacle streaking across the sky.“

SUBMIT

At the end of each year, Phoebus creates a culminating booklet of student art over the year. We accept all types of creation, not just the stereotypical products! If you are a Potomac student, think about what you’ve made both in your classes and free time, find what you’re proud of, and then email it to us…because we’ll be more than proud to publish it

(if not in the final booklet then on this website)!

Don’t know what counts as creation? The answer is: almost anything!

But here are some examples:

  • short story

  • poetry

  • prose

  • song lyrics
